Overview:

Participants will take individual “Strength Based Leadership” assessment and bring a copy of the print-out to the first class. This will help identify strengths and personality style for journal work.

Day One Course Objectives:

• Understand what got you here and map your leadership journey
• Identify the qualities of an effective leader and begin to journal
• Build on your leadership strengths and develop new strengths
• Recognize your personality style, note differences in others’, and flex to accommodate those differences
• Develop individual motivational approaches for peak performance

Creating Communication Effectiveness

Overview:

This topic continues to build on leadership skill assessment and development of trust.

Day Two Course Objectives:

• Understand major factors of motivation
• Identify factors that increase group commitment and accountability
• Expand communication skills to increase productivity
• Match your leadership style to employees’ motivational preferences
• Take actions to foster trust

Conflict Resolution

Overview:

This topic provides an introduction to the TKI conflict instrument and methods to strengthen conflict-resolution skills.

Day Three Course Objectives:

• Better understand yourself through the TKI conflict instrument
• Find the best conflict resolution approach to resolve differences
• Learn confrontation skills that work when dealing with unacceptable behaviors
• Apply a conflict management process to difficult employee situations
• Appreciate the value of resolution in work-related conflicts

• Practice using assertive tools for maximum results
• Learn the various negotiating styles
• Gain useful information about the range of settlement options
• Develop techniques for connecting with people more quickly

Leading with Emotional Intelligence

Overview:

Participants discover ways to develop their emotional intelligence and tap into techniques that foster self-growth and stronger relationships.

Day Three Course Objectives:

• Develop a higher level of emotional intelligence
• Describe the importance of emotional intelligence for building strong relationships
• Understand how emotional intelligence can be applied in the workplace
• Identify negative consequences of unmanaged emotions

Managing Change

Overview:

This series culminates with participants creating a three-dimensional model that captures the key “take-aways” from this week’s sessions. They will undergo an HR interview where they will describe improved leadership results and cite specific examples. They will develop a detailed action plan to chart future progress and growth through continued journaling.

Day Three Course Objectives:

• Understand the impact of change on people inside and outside of the workplace
• Learn about generational differences in the workplace
• Apply the LEAD framework to help team members respond better to change
• Realize the strong positive impact a leader can have on creating team change
• Communicate buy-in techniques to obtain better results with people
